Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians - Brandon Sanderson, Ramon De Ocampo

The Alcatraz books are the only Brandon Sanderson books I haven't read, and that's because they aren't available as ebooks (yet). They are available as brilliantly performed audio books however, and I grabbed them before we left on our family vaca/road trip. I thought they'd be a good choice for the family to listen to in between movies, music, and the alphabet game.

I was right.

Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians is perfectly silly, goofy fun. The audio kept my entire family captivated and laughing for hours. Shout-out to voice actor Ramon De Ocampo--I can't imagine anyone one else getting the goofy-ness just right.

It's the story of Alcatraz Smedry, a 13-year-old boy who has bounced from foster home to foster home his whole life because he's followed by bad luck: Alcatraz breaks anything he touches. Not many pages in, however, Alcatraz discovers nothing in his life is as it seems. He (and we) are thrown into a world of good guys with totally odd powers like breaking things, being late, and tripping with style VS bad guys who live among us in disguise, right under our noses, working very hard to convince the world they are trust worthy--the LIBRARIANS!!!. Be afraid. Be very afraid!

This story is full of wacky characters, silly situations, laugh-out-loud dialogue, and a whole lot of heaping heart and goodness. This would be a great read-aloud book to enjoy with your kids or just to read to yourself, regardless of your age--as long as you're into having fun while you read! And if you're not...why are you even here?

I'm looking forward to book 2, and when the ebooks become available later this year I'll be adding them to my collection as well. Brandon Sanderson strikes again!
