I apologize in advance--I recognize I get excited over things others will just roll there eyes about.  This is likely one of them.

Here goes Amazon changing the world again.

Consider these actual events recently witnessed at my house...

  • You're standing in your kitchen and you need to convert ounces to cups...
  • You're sitting at your table helping your 8th grader with her math and she wants you to tell her what 6.7 is in fraction form...
  • You're eating dinner and discussing Star Wars with your kids and they want to know how old Harrison Ford is...
  • You're laying on the couch waking up from the nap and you want to know what time it is but you can't see the clock on the microwave from that angle...
  • You're making a grocery list but can't find the notebook you always keep your list in...
  • You're getting the kids ready for school but you're not sure if it's shorts weather or jeans weather...
  • You're kids are holding a competition and want you to time how long they can hold their breath...
  • You're on the phone talking to your mom telling her about this book she MUST read, but you can't remember the author's name...

How cool would it be to be able to speak your question out loud and have the answer spoken back to you or task completed for you?  No phone to fish out of you pocket, no button to push, no waiting for your computer our phone to wake?  Very cool indeed.

Amazon Echo is like having the Internet on your kitchen counter, always ready to respond to your request.  For a $100 bucks.  Awesome.

Seriously.  The future is now.

Maybe you trust Gizmodo more than me.

Okay, I'm done.  Back to the books.
