The Wretched of Muirwood (Muirwood, #1) - Jeff Wheeler
I'm An Island...

Why do I feel like the boy who called out the emperor for not wearing any clothes? Based on the gushing reviews for this book--for the whole trilogy, really--I bought this book and it's two sequels. I picked it up ready for an instant favorite, oh to find instead an instant disappointment.

The story certainly has potential. But the entire book felt like the author was just trying way too hard to write a fantastic fantasy--as if using lots of made up words was enough to get by. Honestly, it was hard for me to even get through it. Luckily as the plot progressed things got more interesting and I eventually made it to the end. But the only reason ill be moving to the next book is because I've already bought it!

Will I actually read book three? Don't ask me that until I've made it through book two!
